The temporary visa allows the applicant who secured a skilled job offer called the principal applicant, to work one employer for the duration of the work visa. Before the visa expires, the principal will need to apply for a new work visa to continue working in New Zealand.
If the principal has a partner, the partner may qualify to apply for a partnership work visa. This visa allows the partner to work for any employer, in any position and at any salary for the same duration as the principal’s visa. A partnership work visa can only be obtained when a principals work visa is approved.
This is the first step (application) in the residence process and it is online application. It is a points-based application and points are awarded for many section for example your; qualification, work experience, job offer, etc. You need 160 points to get into the EOI pool. When you are selected out of the pool, INZ (Immigration NZ) will conduct a preliminary assessment to check if the points you have claimed are correct and the process takes approximately one month. When INZ approves your EOI, they will issue you with an invitation to apply for NZ residence.
You need an ITA before you can apply. It is a hardcopy application in which you must submit the documentary proof to support all the points you have claimed in your EOI. The process currently takes INZ 6 months to reach a decision on your application.
You can apply when you have held your residence visa for 24months and lived in New Zealand.
You can apply when you have held your residence visa for 5 years and lived in New Zealand.
